Photographer who was hired to capture a home birth on camera ends up delivering the baby…See how it happened

A photographer called upon to document the birth of a couple's first baby got more than she bargained for when she ended up delivering the new arrival.

Ellie Cotton, from Bollington, Cheshire, was commissioned to photograph the birth of Cat Marshall and Will Stephenson's baby boy at their home in Poynton, Cheshire.

But when baby Marshall decided to make an appearance before the midwife could arrive, Ellie rolled up her sleeves and helped deliver him.

Speaking about the experience, the new mom said: 'We knew when we met Ellie that she'd be a fantastic choice - but little did we know how fantastic! 'She knew exactly what to say to give us some brilliant support, and as the baby arrived stepped straight in to do exactly what was needed. 'When I say we couldn't have done it without her, we genuinely mean it!'
