Kenyan Doctors Carry Out First Conjoined Twins Separation Surgery In Africa (Pics

Kenya is in the news for the right reasons after doctors at the Kenya National Hospital (KNH) carried out the first conjoined twins separation with 100% success in Africa.

The two babies Favour and Blessing, were born joined at the waist on 23 September 2016 but a groundbreaking corrective surgery which took a team of 50 doctors about 23 hours to complete on Wednesday 2 November 2016 ensured they can decide to live without needing each other.

The twins are being held under close watch at KNH's intensive care unit and further surgeries to construct their separated body parts (ie skins,  anal canal and bowel) will be underway in coming weeks.
